We’ve now reviewed a few porn sites on Oh Joy Sex Toy, we love porn! So it’s always surprising to have people ask us why they ought to pay for it.

Obviously, a 500 word comic isn’t going to do this subject justice, and a lot of clever people have a lot of clever things to say about it already. If you’re looking to learn more, might I recommend reading OJST pal, Jiz Lee’s article on it. In their article Jiz links to another great piece by Siri, and another friend of the site Lux Alptraum wrote an interesting counterpoint, (in an article on a website that’s since been closed) emphasizing that the industry needs to develop new ways to make money ’cause piracy is here to stay. There’s also an industry-started social network campaign called #PayForYourPorn that promotes, well, the name kind of gives it away.

The way the internet is now-a-days can make it tough to be a good porn consumer. But more and more studios and performers are finding new ways to have you support them. Personally, I love finding studios and performers on twitter, and then finding their preferred methods of support. A lot of the time I end up at clip stores, where I end up discovering even MORE new studios or performers. Win-Win. But as mentioned in the comic, you really gotta give yourself a budget: it can get expensive quick!

Still don’t know where to start? Well we HAVE reviewed a few subscriptions sites.
But let me recommend them each to you again:
Lucie Blush is our current go-to.
Crashpad a MUCH loved staple.
Cockyboys for when we’re in a pure peen-mood.
Slipshine for your cartoon-porn needs.
Erika Lust, love it, and new site to boot!
Four Chambered Heart, (not yet reviewed), but fantastic arty small company stuff that we love.
