A very relatable comic about SSRI’s, side effects and low libido. Spanish artist Bea Tormo brings such a lovely style, and story in todays lightly autobiographical, educational and fictional comic.
Mental health is incredibly important, and we think sexual health is too. Getting that balanced can be a constant battle, but it’s one that’s worth fighting for. Thank you so much for todays comic Bea!

Bear and Cat are sitting down in a coffee shop with little desserts and teas, and coffees sat in front of them. They are animatedly talking with each other with big grins.
Bear
'You look great! What a change!'
Cat
'Thanks! I feel better. Therapy was a lot of help to me.'
Bear
'You also take medication, don’t you?'
Cat puts their head in their hand and looks into their tea a little more deeply.
Cat
'Yeah.'
Bear
'How is it going?'
Cat
'Well… There are some side effects…'
Bear picks up their tea and twirls a spoon through it as Cat looks away and drinks.
Bear
'What type of side effects?'
Cat
'…Sexual type'
The camera pans and shows us a view from behind them, both little sweat, lines, and nervous motions float off of them both.
Bear
'Sexual? Like what?'
Cat
'Shhhhhh!'
Bear'Sorry!'
The camera flips back in front of them as we see Bear lean forward in a friendly, comforting way as Cat gently rubs their own shoulder
Bear
'I’m sorry, if you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine.'
Cat
'I want to. But I feel uncomfortable complaining about nonsense with someone who has helped me so much.
I don’t know where to start…'
Page 2
Bear takes a big old bite from their delicious dessert, it looks like a doughnut or a fancy cookie. On the other side of the page is Cat looking up, shrugging their shoulders as they go on to talk about things.
Bear
'Did your doctor warn about possible side effects?'
Cat
'… Yes.
But they use too much medical language, it’s hard to understand.'
We see a different colored panel from the past as a big pelican with Dr. glasses and PhD behind them looks at Cat. Reading off a piece of paper, the Pelican goes on to say the subtitle of the comic
Subtitle
'Lack of sexual desire.'
We cut back to modern-day cat as they twirl their tea.
Cat
'I thought it wasn’t important because when you are mentally unwell, you have no sexual desire at all.
I was even a little offended that they thought it was an issue I cared about.'
Past Cat is sitting in the doctor's chair, arms crossed, and brow squinted, in a defensive posture
Past Cat
'Bullshit.'
In this next panel, we see past Cat looking at themselves in the mirror, holding a pill, they look a little worse for wear with bags underneath their eyes, as they take the pill.
Narration
'I need healing myself. I thought sex was unnecessary and irrelevant.'
Page 3
An excited Bear talks from inside a circle
Bear'And it worked! You’re back to your old self!'
From off the page, Cat replies
'Yeah.'
Cats' replies become floating narration as we are shown three different sexual scenarios with Cat and a generic-looking Anthro character as they have sex.
Narration
'But when you come back to yourself, you discover things you had lost, like sex.'The sexual scenarios show Cat riding on top of this third person before suddenly realizing that they’re not getting the same reaction or effects on their body that they used to, and they look surprised. In the third sexual scenario, they are by themselves, touching their genitalia with exclamations and question marks floating around them, as their bits obviously don’t feel the same way that they used to.
Narration
'Penetration, oral sex, masturbation… Nothing worked for me. Something was wrong.'
We’re back with current day, Bear and Cat. Bear has a neutral face while Cat is still looking away as they go on to describe their journey.
Bear
'Wrong? What do you mean?'
Cat
'I quit orgaming'
Bear'How?'
Cat'I mean, excitement usually increases during sex, sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down. Up again… Until it reaches the top.'
A pop-up diagram of a roller coaster with a giant peak at the top floats next to them. At the peak little arrow shows the word orgasm. riding along the rollercoaster is a tiny little cat waving a 10 out of 10 rating flag.
Cat
'Medication breaks that cycle. Fucks it all up.'
We now see Cat playing with that roller coaster, it's color coded to show it's after the medication. It now lacks the same huge peak that it had before, the little participant-cat on the roller coaster seems to be having less of a joyous time, rating it at a 5.
Cat
'That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the journey.
But it’s a very monotonous trip. No loops, no orgasm… All the time in a feeling of endless half excitement. Even when it miraculously ends in an orgasm… It’s not the same as before medication.'
One of the tiny little cats on the roller coaster says out loud
'I’m bored.'

We’re back with Bear and Cat, Cat is reaching over for the rest of that delicious dessert as Bear asks a few more questions
Bear
'So that’s what they referred to as a loss of sexual'
Cat
'Yes, and no.
My libido dropped.'
The camera zooms in close on Cat eating the cookie, now an analogy.
Cat
'This cookie is dry.'
'I didn’t have this need. That desire, and when I rarely did, it wasn’t very great.'
Bear and Cat are being shown from behind again
Bear
'Wow, that sucks. I’m sorry.'
Cat looks down with a disappointed look
Cat
'I feel foolish talking about something so unimportant.'
Bear points their finger and loudly pronounces with an angry look.
'You’re not a fool!!'
Startled Cat listens on
Bear
'We all have a right to enjoy sex and talk deeply about it.'
A more relaxed and friendly Bear smiles
Bear
'Not only your mind is important, but also your body and your desires. Give yourself time to heal and talk about whatever you want when you need to. All of you is important.'
The comic and page ends with Cat reaching over to hug Bear, the two of them embrace.
Cat
'Thanks.'
Bear
'Would you like an ice cream?'
Cat
'Oh, yeah.'
