I said it in the comic but I’ll say it again, I really wish this book had existed when I was a teenager. This is an indispensable resource for EVERYone who wants to bone down with chicks, regardless of your gender/orientation! You can check out the GirlSex101.com site for more information on author Allison Moon (Or Twitter @TheAllisonMoon !) and go see the portfolio of illustrator KD Diamond (@thekddiamond) too!

Erika Moen draws with a cartoony style and limited pink color palette.
"haroo" mournfully howls Cassy, an East Indian trans woman with black hair just past her shoulders. She wears boots and a cute skirt and sleeved top. With a little "BOP" she kicks a small stone in the road.
"Why so glum, chum?" Asks Erika, who appears out of nowhere.
"Ugh!" Cassy exclaims. "I wanna have sex with women!!!"
"Hey, that's not a problem!" Erika laughs.
"It is when you don't know HOW!" She retorts and then begins spiraling as she demands, "What do I do? How does it work? What counts as 'sex'? How can I be any good at it?!?!"
"Oh dang, I've just finished reading a book I wish I'd had when I was asking those questions many years ago." Erika begins walking the two of them towards a larger-than-life size copy of a book. "Friend, you need to get your hands on a copy of Girl Sex 101 by Allison Moon and KD Diamond."
Notes around the book explain, "$25, 388 pages, soft cover"

Holding open the book, Erika continues, "Written by Allison Moon and illustrated by KD Diamond, this beast of a book covers almost every conceivable sexy encounter you might have with a woman."
"Ugh, Erika." Cassy snorts, crossing her arms in frustration. "Lesbian sex books never include ME, they're always written for and about cisgender women."
"This book IS for you!" Counters Erika. "It is written for ALL women and their many anatomies, from cis to trans and the non-binary shades in between."
Taking the book, Cassy gestures as it as she continues, "But a single writer can't represent EVERY type of woman!"
"One of the reasons I love this book is that Moon features the accumulated advice of 16 diverse sex educators and over 100 survey responders to feature a wide variety of people."
In the background are portraits of Jiz Lee, Ignacio Rivera, Tobi Hill-Meyer, Sandra Daugherty, and Julia Serano.
"Wow, there's a lot of different voices in here!" Says Cassy, holding open one half of the book while Erika holds the other. Leaning in closer to look at it, she says, "Color me interested."
"You should be! This isn't like any other sex ed book I've read before." Erika agrees.

Magically, Erika and Cassy are now seated at a cafe table, each with their own hot beverage and the book resting on the table between them.
"It's written in such a casual, friendly style. Moon's use of slang and colloquial terms made me feel like I'm sitting in a coffee shop with a friend, talking frankly and honestly about sex and queer stuff." Explains Erika while Cassy takes a sip of her drink.
"And it's more than just explaining the physical mechanics of Doin' It." Erika makes her fingers into V-signs and brings them together. "Moon covers flirting, communicating, consenting, relationships, drama, identity, and sooo much more." Little icons float around the page showing a mouth in the act of speaking, an eye winking, a couple holding hands, a couple fighting, and one word balloon asking "?" to another word balloon that replies with a check mark.
With a wink, Erika leans over to fake-whisper "Plus dirty stories."
"THERE'S SMUT IN HERE TOO?" Cassy exclaims, bringing the open book closer to her face.
"Hey yes, between each chapter there's an on-going sexy road trip story. They're fun even if they're not exactly my cup of erotic tea, but they do reinforce the principles that she talks about in a more real life way."
"Neat!" Cassy coos.

"GirlSex 101 sounds like a pretty good one-stop-shop for the basics on all things girl-on-girl!" Cassy says while marveling at the book.
"Content-wise, yes, this is THE guide. You'll be hard-pressed to find a more thorough collection of instructions on lezzing out..." Agrees Erika.
"I feel a 'but' coming on." Cassy says knowingly.
"...Buuuuut (and it hurts to say this!) I do have some nitpicks." Erika replies, holding her chin in her hands.
"GirlSex 101 would be even better with an editor! More than once I stumbled over sections of text that felt repetitive or first-drafty." Erika says, gesturing at a middle age editor marking up pages with a red pencil.
Narration: The visual flow would benefit from tighter graphic design as well. Image and text alignment was not always harmonious. And strangely, almost all the comics had weird color separation errors on them too.
Examples of all of the above are on display.

Now sitting on an open, house-size copy of the book, Erika continues, "Despite those slightly amateur touches, the quality of the information contained within its pages is golden. GirlSex 101 is required reading for anyone with even a passing interest in rolling around with a woman, whether they're someone who puts the Virgin in Olive Oil or they're a Seasoned Sexpert. It's the book I wish existed when I was a wee-teenager and I'm so jealous of all the young people now who get to have this as a guide for becoming sexually active today. You couldn't ask for a more comprehensive, frank, funny, and kind sex ed resource."
"Wow!" Cassy exclaims. "So, uh... Can I borrow that?" She asks, pointing at the book as Erika presents it to her.
