Two people are striding down a boardwalk next to the beach, their arms are loaded with supplies for lounging by the ocean for the rest of the day.

"It's been a while since we'd had a beach day! I got a new bikini and shaved for the occasion!" Exclaims Magpie, a tall, raven haired girl wearing a summer dress over her swimsuit and wedge sandals on her feet. She sports a simple sun tattoo in the center of her chest, two ring piercings in the middle cartilage of her ear, and her limbs are all smooth, freshly shaved. She caries a cooler with one arm and balances a bundle of shoulder bags over her opposite arm.

"I also got a new suit!" Ry chirps. "Didn't shave though." They are a head shorter than their friend with shaggy shoulder-length hair and wear a t-shirt with beach shorts with flip-flops. They tow a beach umbrella and fold-out chairs under their arms, and their legs are fluffy with soft hair.

"Come to think of it, I've never seen you clean-shaved." Magpie comments.

"I tried when I was younger..." Ry says, looking back into their memories of the past.

Over a montage of scenes, we see a younger Ry with much longer hair shaving their armpits, waxing over their lip and above their eyebrows, and slathering on a lotion to their hairy legs.

Narration: I shaved, waxed, and even used Nair to get rid of my hair.

The razor, Nair bottle, and wooden sticks with wax still stuck to them fall into a heap on the floor. In the spill of Nair lotion, the narration reads, "But every time I did, I felt like a piece of me was missing."

With shoulder-length hair, we see Ry standing from behind and holding up a flag with four stripes of yellow, white, purple, and black.

Narration: Eventually I discovered I was nonbinary and body hair was connected to my gender euphoria!

A montage of illustrations shows a variety of close-ups of various parts of Ry. In the first, Ry sports a crop-top tank-top with fashion lights flaring behind them. Their many arm tattoos and soft line of tummy hair are proudly visible. In the next image, they sit on grass in a short, belted skirt with their leg hair transitioning from light at the top of their legs to thicker down their calves.

Narration: Now I go out of my way to show it off! I'll wear tank tops, shorts and shirts-

"I'll even darken my mustache with makeup!" They announce proudly to the reader through their reflection in their heart-shaped desk mirror as they apply a makeup pencil above their lip.

Back to the present day on the boardwalk, the two friends have added soft drinks and soft serve ice cream cones to their arsenal of supplies.

While Ry takes a bite of their melting ice cream, Magpie asks, "I've only heard of gender DYsphoria. How does body hair connect to your gender EUphoria?"

"Most of the time I present feminine." Explains Ry as they finally reach the sandy beach, with helpful arrows pointing to their hair and boobs with the female symbol floating by them. "But adding in something like a mustache or leg hair helps to add some gender confusion for people." Another arrow points towards their and an arrows points at their hairy legs with question marks.

The two begin setting up their umbrella and towels on the sand.

"Wait, if you want to be more confusing shouldn't you dress more masc?" Magpie asks as she shakes out her towel.

In one fluid motion, Ry pulls their t-shirt up over their head, revealing their striped bikini top on beneath. "Sometimes I do!" They answer. "But I enjoy wearing cute frilly clothes too."

Magpie rubs sunblock onto her forearm while asking, "Do people ever comment on your hair?"

"All the time!" Replies Ry, pulling their own sun block out of their beach bag. "People love to tell me that it's unladylike."

"That's so mean!" Magpie gasps in offense on her friend's behalf.

"It's actually very validating!" Ry counters. "I'm aiming for unladylike!"

We flash into a symbolic scene, showing R standing in a spotlight with hundreds of glowing eyes staring at her. The female symbol shines in the pupil of each eye. Ry looks uncomfortable and vulnerable.

Narration: I'm misgendered a lot for my appearance. While I don't think clothing should have a gender, society does.

In another scene, Ry and their darkened mustache stand confidently before a confused fast food server who is ringing up their order.

Narration: But when people see my body hair there's always a slight hesitation.

"What kind of milk would you like ma- uh, they?" Asks the server to Ry, who is beaming with confidence now that their mustache is emphasized on their face.

Throwing their arms around Magpie, Ry declares affectionately, "And having supportive friends is added reassurance!"

"Aww!" Coos Magpie, embracing Ry back.

"Now, let's enjoy the beach!" Ry exclaims, bounding to the ocean with Magpie hot in pursuit and seagulls alighting out of the way.

In the water with other beachgoers, the two friends splash each other playfully.

"Haha! That's cold!" Laughs Ry.
